Luke - 9.1

Fox Hollow, plus the stream crossing on the way down.  Wasn't feeling great until about halfway up the hill, when suddenly everything bad went away.  At halfway I was on pace for something like 9:25 and ended up getting to the top at 8:43.  Down was decent until about halfway also, when my stomach started really cramping up.  Just before the stream crossing I found a place to take a pitstop and everything was great from then on.  7:20s on Rexius even though it was pretty soggy.

Parked at the Willamette parking lot of Ridgeline and ran to Spring and back.  They covered up the trail that goes straight to the top of Mount Baldy, so now if you want to go to the top and get the view of both sides you have to backtrack or go on a worse trail.  Pretty sucky guys!

Luke - 10.4

Fox Hollow plus the 1.6-mile loop at the top.  First 3.3mi with Zack, leaving before 7am.  We ran into a couple other runners we know who were warming up for a workout, so we took a slightly different route than usual on the way out, hence 10.4 instead of the usual 10.35 (Important stuff!).  Time up was a decent 9:06 and time down was a little-bit-tougher 8:19.  Continuing with my weirdly-consistent times lately, my Rexius split on the way out was 15:13.56 and on the way back it was 15:13.38.  The last mile or so was a bit of a struggle since I'm not really used to doing runs over an hour yet, but Zack had banana pancakes ready for me when I walked in the door, which certainly helps aid recovery (physically and mentally).

1.4-mile loop of Pre's Trail in 10:58, with Zack at 7am.  I have the week off from work--business is slow so they are doing a program where we work every other week, and on the off weeks we collect unemployment, which should be ~80% of normal pay.  I'll take it!  This first week is a "waiting week" so I don't get paid for it, but hopefully this lasts at least a few months so that I can approach* 90% pay for doing 50% of the work...and get lots of rest to make my running comeback easier/better!

*This is a "limits" calculus problem for Steve.

Long run with 8-9 others.  The way out was normal pace, probably 7:30s or so, and the way back was a lot faster, probably down near 6:30 by the end.  It was a bit of work for me to keep it going, but it was good feeling like I'm improving again, instead of the holding pattern I'd been in for the last 3-4 months.

Chris - 200's & stadiums

Last Sunday and today I ran down the street to the Wilson High School track to do a speed workout. Last week I did 3 200's, and today I did 5 and 2 stadiums. For the stadiums I went up and down the one row of steps twice, hitting every step as fast as I could. I did 3 laps as a warmup, and did the first 200 a little easier to make sure I didn't pull my hammy. Here's the times I had on my watch for the 200's. They're a little off since I had to hit my start button twice to start the next split. I'm pretty happy about breaking 33 seconds today...I'm getting faster!

I got back from 4 weeks in Manchester on Thursday night. Alison also got back from 2.5 weeks there. It was a great trip, my first in 3 years, with lots of soul-searching. I've come back feeling like Florida is more like home, which is nice. One thing I really wanted to do while there was run with a friend, but it never happened. Since I wasn't staying in the same area as my old house I didn't even get to go for a walk on my old running haunt the canal (well, a little bit one day), though we did see it from the tram window. So I decided to get right into it tonight. The break is because I was returning a DVD. Good health is on the agenda after a month of Epic Meal Time style eating and extreme boozing it up. The quote below shows what I was up against (and willing actor in). Injuries and what ever other problems there might be, be damned, 2013 is going to be great!
