Steve - 9

69:24 (7:43)

Headed out to Santa Monica to run with my Wednesday night crew. Pace was pretty fast for a long this long. For the first 7 miles I was with the group and we were probably averaging about 7:20-7:30. Final 2 miles I did slowly on my own in the grass. Doing runs like this are good for me because I was trying to keep up with faster runners for most of the way. I don't want to always run this fast on longish runs though as I think it could be counterproductive in the long term.

  1. Going fast on long runs can be good if you're training for a marathon or half. Usually an acceleration-type run or doing the second half at goal pace. If the long run's just for the mileage, though, easy is fine.
