The butte. Pouring rain the whole time. A lot of the trails were muddy rivers. The way out was pretty good. 9:12 up Fox Hollow. At the top stopped and had a gel, but I think I stopped for a little too long because the rest of the way was pretty bad even though my legs felt fine and I had plenty of energy...I just couldn't go, I think my muscles were frozen or something. 10:33 down Fox Hollow. 55:41 out, 60:35 back.

Okay, I'll show my lack of knowledge again - had a 'gel'? Sounds weird.

ReplyDeleteSounds like bollocks, for gullible athletic types. Needless to say I would like to try it some time.
ReplyDeleteI would have thought so too...but it definitely has made noticeable differences on long runs. There are lots of other brands of similar stuff...one I tried out a few weeks ago was mostly honey: http://honeystinger.com/
ReplyDeletePowerBar also makes gel, and Clif too. Also most of the big companies have the same stuff in "block" form (the consistency of Turkish Delight or something).
I'm a big Clif bar fan. A few bites every few miles or so on an hour + run helps. Chia gel is probably the best, but might be hard to carry.
ReplyDeleteHah, Turkish delight. Long time since I thought about those, or how bad I am at describing them. Lots of delight in that part of the world lately.
ReplyDeleteAnd hah again, I just ate a Clif bar following my run. Very satisfying. I've been getting a monthly delivery of them, mostly to take to college, but they've been arriving faster than I've been eating them, so they are piling up, which is exciting. Maybe I will look into their gels.
