Steve - 6.06

51:33 (8:30)

3 hill loops in 7:47, 7:27, 6:40. Getting a lot of pain right below my knee. Guess I'll keep running through it.

  1. I don't know how factual this is, but I equate knee pain with running incorrectly. (Lower-leg pain = running too much; upper-leg pen = running too fast; knee pain = running incorrectly.) It could be caused by incorrect/worn-out shoes or by "plodding"--leaning too far forward (or back), pushing the foot into the ground with the heel, and/or skidding along the ground. Higher mileage should naturally improve your form, but make sure you're not going too slow--you shouldn't feel like you're holding yourself back, that'll only lead to worse form.

Also there could just be something wrong with your stupid knee.

  2. yeh you could be right about that. i might be running too slowly on easy runs. the pain is actually below my knee in the bone that connects the lower leg to the knee. so it doesn't quite fit your formula. perhaps since it's in between the lower leg and the knee, it's a combination of running too much and running with bad form...anyway, hopefully it just goes away at some point.
