James - 6.2

44:06 - 10K
Under my goal of 45 mins!

This felt like a good run from start to finish. That feeling of death which I talked about was largely gone, replaced with a pain I could deal with that allowed me to push - just slightly - at almost all times, and over a long distance shave quite a lot off. I dare say I still felt room for improvement. I only hope I can run this well on race day.

  1. Great! I'd say all that consistent mileage has done you good! Hooray for theories working out in real life!

Are you going to change your race-day goal now that you've beaten it in practice?

  2. Woohoo making the running master pleased!

Um, since it's only a week away let's just leave it as it is for now and make sure I beat it on the day. Then I'll pick a new goal. It would be good to do it "officially," you know? Also on this site I have been quasi-uncharacteristically slow to pick up how it works and don't know how to change the bio.

  3. Well after you smash it next weekend and you want to change it to, say, "10k - 32 minutes", just make sure you are logged in, and then at the bottom of the list of all our goals there's a little icon of a screwdriver and a spanner (ha!) and when you click it it lets you edit the thing.

  4. I have looked many times for this wrench (hah!) and so on and I swear I don't see them. Have you handed down sufficient power to me, you emperor?

32 minutes! No more running for me, my side just split.

  7. From a LetsRun thread on cars in crosswalks, reminded me of your guys' back and forth:

    http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=3006568

Without breaking stride, push off hard with your right foot, plant your left foot in the middle of the hood (bonnet for you Brits) and touch down with your right foot first about a meter (about three feet for you Americans) beyond the motorcar (automobile for you Americans again). You should throw in a surge (fartlek for you geeks)at this point of your workout (run for you penguins). When you can achieve this process with proper form, add a mouth clearing spit onto the windshield (windscreen for you Brits again).

  8. Ha, I read that this morning.

  9. That is brilliant. I wrote about runner spitting a few weeks ago, but not with such style! That whole topic is good. It's great to see other people not just being angry at cars but actually doing pissed off things about it. The person who said there are trails and parks everywhere, why run on roads - how blind to their class privilege can someone get? Not that we shouldn't enjoy running on (public) roads even if we are fortunate enough to live near green spaces.

Oh and I would like to do a 5K Steve, I should really try and find out about one. I now see the spanner, thanks Benito! (So appropriate.)
