Zack - 14.35

14.35 miles 1:54:38 (7:59)

Adventurous solo run on a nice cloudy day (no rain)! Went Alder to 35th, down East Amazon, up Dillard. The Dillard climb was done in 12:57 up to Hidden Meadows Dr. Then took the massive downhill there to Redtail Ln which then leads to another extreme uphill pitch. Turned left at Skyhawk Way and went until it hit Ridgetop Rd. Quite a view here, I had my gel and stopped for a second. I then proceeded up the last major climb on Eagle's Aerie. The switchbacks here are very very steap, especially after two other previously large hills. Turned left on Dillard Rd, went to Beymer Rd. I thought this would connect to Christensen Rd but it doesn't unless you skip through the valley. I decided to back track and went back to Dillard. Followed until the Ridgeline Trail, took the 0.8 mi upper route and then down Fox Hollow. Legs felt pretty strong until the last little bit on Rexius. Incredible run.

Major climbs of ~550' (1.5 mi), ~300' (0.5 mi), and ~300' (0.4 mi). Total climbing est. at ~1300-1500'. Mapped (for the first 9.2 mi at: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4440397 before the usual Ridgeline trail route home).

  2. To attest to the hilliness of this run: Hidden Meadows Drive is a ridiculous downhill...great view, but running down it is a feat of strength. The uphill back to Dillard is correspondingly difficult, to the point where one dreads any downhills or flat portions because one knows it will only make the rest of the uphill steeper and/or longer.

This is the loop I do when I want to make a Ridgeline run into a Ridiculine run: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2549002

Usually makes me want to go another quarter mile up the road and join the Buddhist priory. I wonder if they brew their own beer a la the Trappists...
